Account deletion and data management

A11Yneeds lets you manage saved personal data separately or permanently delete an account. This page explains both options and their consequences.

Application and service: A11Yneeds, developed and published by Cédric Goedecke.

How do I delete my account?

Choose the interface you use. The corresponding instructions will appear below. The user account website is selected by default.

Website - user account

Deletion is available in the user account security options.

  1. Sign in to the relevant user account if needed.
  2. Open Settings - Connection directly in a new tab.
  3. Open Security options, choose Delete the account or its data, then request the confirmation email.
  4. Open the email, follow its link, then use the final confirmation button. The account is then deleted and all its sessions are revoked.

Manage or delete only my personal data

The Manage or delete my personal data button does not delete anything immediately. It opens the Data section, where each item can be viewed and deleted.

This section includes profiles, personal fields and information saved to make future requests easier to prepare.

Deleting this information does not delete the account, sign the person out or change data already included in a request sent to an organization.

Data deleted with the account

Warning: permanent account deletion cannot be undone.

  • The e-mail address used as the account sign-in identity.
  • Any password and the validity of sessions, tokens or links that could still access the account.
  • Profiles, selections and synchronization data associated with the account.
  • Personal information saved to pre-fill future requests.
  • For a professional account, all active access to organizations.

Removing the link to the sign-in address

Within the sign-in system and the A11Yneeds account’s own data, every link between the sign-in address and the account’s internal identifier is deleted.

No sign-in or synchronization mechanism can then reopen this account. Signing in again with the same address creates a separate account with a new internal identifier.

Requests already sent to organizations

Requests already sent are not deleted with the account. They remain available to their recipient organizations with the information they contained when sent, including an e-mail address if one was provided so that the organization could reply.

A11Yneeds may continue to host this data on behalf of the recipient organization. The organization is responsible for processing it; the data does not become its property and the person concerned retains their rights.

These requests are permanently detached from the deleted account. They can no longer be accessed from that account and cannot be automatically attached to a new account.

Ratings and comments

Ratings or comments already published may be retained to preserve content consistency. They are then detached from the account and shown under an alias that displays neither the e-mail address nor the sign-in identity.

Statistics and technical information

A11Yneeds may retain overall statistics, such as counts of sign-ins, consultations or requests.

Some timestamps and technical identifiers may be retained when needed for data consistency and service operation. They are not a sign-in mechanism and cannot restore the deleted account.

Technical logs required for security are retained for their normal retention period and then deleted when they expire.

Signing in again with the same address

Signing in again with the same address creates a new account without access to the old account’s profiles, personal data, requests or professional permissions. Organizations must invite and validate a new professional account before restoring access.

Rights concerning retained data

Deleting the account does not remove the rights a person may exercise over data contained in a request. For a request already sent, contact the recipient organization or A11Yneeds to identify the appropriate procedure.
